What is Metaverse?

Recently, the idea of the metaverse has been a hot topic of conversation. Companies like Facebook and Microsoft are leading this debate. But what is the metaverse and when might it get here?

The concept of a metaverse is conceived as a network of 3D virtual worlds that are focused on social connection. In futurism and science fiction, a metaverse is often described as an iteration of the internet as a single, universal virtual world that is facilitated by the use of virtual and augmented reality headsets. The term "metaverse" has its origins in the 1992 science fiction novel Snow Crash as a portmanteau of "meta" and "universe."

How to implement the Metaverse?

Video Games

Video games have been a breeding ground for understanding the potential of the metaverse. The 2003 video game Second Life was the first metaverse, incorporating many social media aspects in their virtual world. It is argued that Minecraft's emergent gameplay is an advanced analog of a metaverse. Roblox, Active Worlds, and Fortnite are other video games developing the concept of a metaverse.

Virtual reality

Facebook has been working for the past few years on a virtual world called "Facebook Horizon". Facebook founder and chairman, Mark Zuckerberg has declared that in order to be a real player in the future of technology, Facebook needs to build their own "metaverse". It's unclear if any of the technology they're advertising will actually be developed. Meanwhile, both the Facebook whistleblower, Frances Haugen and Microsoft have been developing their own versions of a metaverse.

Hardik Pandya-The captain of Gujarat Titans

Hardik Pandya lives life king size, and that exuberance finds expression in his powerful hitting in the middle order and brisk seam bowling. His play first caught people's attention when he scored 31 runs in just 31 balls for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

After taking 10 wickets and helping Baroda make it to the final, Pandya was called up for India's limited-overs tour of Australia. There, he made his international debut and impressed with the ball in Bangladesh at the Asia Cup. The allrounder looked like a promising prospect for India, and sealed his spot on the 2016 World T20 squad.

Recently, Pandya's been really busy with his bowling. During the last over against Bangladesh, Pandya defended two runs off three balls, helping India to a one-run victory. Nearly a week later, Pandya bowled a no ball to reprieve Lendl Simmons and help West Indies win the semi-final.

The friendship and controversy between KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul both have big love for cricket, but they also share a deep love for the joys of life! These two Indian cricketers are often seen bonding on and off the field. They share an even deeper connection: Their shared love of cricket and fashion. This can be seen in the many heartwarming comments they leave on each other's social media posts.

In 2019, KL Rahul was present on a chat show with his close friend, Hardik Pandya. After the show went live on television, people were quick to criticize a few comments made by Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. These comments were misconstrued and labeled as “misogynistic” and “sexist”.

When Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, were accused of sexual harassment, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) banned them from playing in a few of the matches during the Australia tour. An investigation was launched, and after clearing that, the two players were allowed to play again for India.

Gujarat Titans ‘s team logo on the Metaverse.

Gujarat Titans, a cricket team recently introduced to the Indian Premier League, launched their logo in the Metaverse yesterday. They are the first premier sports franchise in India to have a dedicated virtual space for their fans and players. The logo was officially launched by head coach Ashish Nehra, captain Hardik Pandya and batter Shubman Gill. All three of them had the first-ever interaction in The Titans Dugout in the Metaverse.

The Gujarat team's logo is meant to have the shape of a kite flying high in the sky. This reflects the team's urge to go to new heights and endless possibilities. Widening horizons and a rich cultural heritage are the key parts of this logo. A bolt of lightning is also included on the logo, symbolizing the team's will, determination, and power to turn adversity into triumph.

Gujarat Titans, owned by CVC Capitals, has built a young and energetic squad with players like Rashid Khan, Jason Roy, David Miller, Matthew Wade, Mohammed Shami, Rahul Tewatia, Lockie Ferguson and Alzarri Joseph among others from the IPL Mega Auction.
